The film, Hannah Montana & Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert even managed to steal some of the thunder away from Super XLII. The movie itself made just over $31 million dollars in a matter of days. Tickets were sold at twice the cost of regular movie tickets and the film broke a number of box office records. So who exactly is Hannah Montana, and how did Miley Cyrus become such an overnight success?
The Hannah Montana mania all started as an Emmy award nominated television series. The show debuted in March of 2006 exclusively on the Disney Channel. She conceals her true identity from everyone except her closest of friends and family members. The season premier of the show was also a record breaking success as more than 5.4 million viewers tuned into the Disney Channel that night. No one, not even co-creator Michael Poryes could have predicted that success that Hannah Montana would have. Since the show become a part of mainstream media, Disney launched a full out marketing attack offering clothing, apparel, dolls, CD's and even jewelry branded with the Hannah Montana name. In fact in 2007 Hannah Montana dolls were one of the most popular items on the market.
By 2008 the world was so caught up in the Hannah Montana craze that Disney was forced to create its own department to deal with marketing and production of Hannah Montana everything. Miley Cyrus and her lovable character have taken over cinemas, shopping malls and homes all across the world. With there are some fads that seem to come and go with each passing week, it appears that Hannah Montana is here to stay. Who knows what new product or movie will come out with the name Hannah Montana attached to it next. However there is one certain guarantee, it will be a smashing success.
